A Lifelong Passion for Jewellery
With a deep background in both art history and contemporary art, Elisabetta Cipriani has created one of London’s most distinctive destinations for wearable art. Her passion for jewellery began early in life.
“I was always in love with jewellery, since my childhood,”
Elisabetta Cipriani recalls.
“In the ’80s and ’90s, fashion was different. I remember the stunning jewels my mother and grandmother wore—pieces that reflected their attitude, their style, their inner world. Very quickly, I realised jewellery is far more than adornment. It’s a personal language through which you express your spirit, your emotions, your desires.”

From Art History to the Contemporary Art World
Determined to follow this calling, Cipriani pursued a degree in the history of jewellery before working at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACRO) in Rome. There, she gained experience across multiple facets of the art world—from curating exhibitions and organising events to collaborating with and promoting artists.
“Art is about what is happening today—about inspiration and reality,”
she explains.

Building a Vision in London
After years in Italy, Cipriani moved to London to deepen her understanding of the art market, particularly auctioneering. In 2005, she joined Ben Brown Fine Arts, where she was tasked with organising the gallery’s jewellery collection.
What began as a modest initiative—displayed on a small library shelf—quickly grew under her vision into a significant and meaningful offering for collectors.
“The most important things happen in small places,” she says, quoting her friend, the artist Jannis Kounellis.

A Gallery Defined by Artistic Expression
Today, her gallery in the heart of London is synonymous with refined curation and exclusivity. Cipriani participates in a selected number of prestigious fairs, including Design Miami and Design Paris, favouring quality over quantity.
“The artists she represents create unique or limited-edition pieces that blur the line between sculpture and adornment.
“A jewel made by an artist is a sculpture—it is not an ordinary jewel,” Elisabetta Cipriani says.

Materials range widely—from gold and titanium to shells and diamonds—but for Cipriani, the essence lies in artistic expression. Gold remains her favourite, valued for its timeless, enduring quality.
Curating with Instinct
Inside the gallery, selection is guided purely by instinct and visual impact.
“There are no strict criteria,” she explains. “It’s about what captures my eye—what I truly love.”
In 2019, she launched ECLab, an initiative inviting emerging designers to showcase their work.
Supporting Emerging Talent
Cipriani is especially passionate about supporting new talent. Among her current favourites is contemporary jewellery artist Joy BC, whose work draws inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman mythology.
Using materials such as bronze, gold, and silver, Joy BC creates small yet monumental figures with remarkable craftsmanship, including intricately detailed reverse sides.

“If a jewel looks good on you, then you should buy it—especially an art jewel. It gives you confidence, beauty, and individuality. It can also be an investment, but the most important thing is to make it yours because you love it.”

Looking Ahead: 2026 Exhibitions
Looking ahead, the Elisabetta Cipriani gallery is set for a dynamic Spring and Summer 2026. Highlights include an exclusive exhibition dedicated to Sophia Vari in May, followed by international projects.
In September, Cipriani will present a performance exhibition by Satta Matturi, and in October, a showcase devoted to the distinctive creations of Joy BC.
